About
Hi, I’m Jeanie.
I mostly make drawings that hold onto things that are short-lived, but deeply cherished - like a steaming bowl of noodle soup, or… a bridal bouquet.
You may have found me through my bouquet drawings, commissioned by clients who seem to share a certain sensitivity… and, let’s say, a mild aversion to turning something meaningful into a block of resin.
Drawing bouquets wasn’t something I had mapped out when I decided to take art seriously. It’s one of those things that naturally aligned once I started moving in the direction I was supposed to be going anyway. And now, here we are.
Outside of bouquets, I draw whatever insists on being drawn. I don’t really believe in picking one lane - at least not when it comes to subject matter. My work tends to follow my life, which means it shifts, overlaps, and occasionally contradicts itself.
The one thing I am (stubbornly) committed to is the medium: coloured pencil on paper.
Not saying forever, not saying I’ll never stray. But for now, I’m interested in what happens when you stay with something for a ridiculous amount of time - which is essentially what drawing with coloured pencil demands. It’s slow, repetitive and slightly obsessive. Exactly how I like to roll.
There’s also something about the fact that it’s one of the most basic tools you can think of. It’s what kept me occupied as a kid, and somehow, it still does. I like that continuity. Everything else moves so darn fast. This doesn’t. And I think there’s value in that.
I’m glad you found your way here.
